Which languages does Echo support?+
Echo translates between English, Simplified Chinese (简体中文), and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文). More pairs are on the way.
Which devices does Echo run on?+
Echo is an iPhone app. Around Me, Screen mode, Audio mode, and the floating picture-in-picture caption overlay require a physical device — they don’t run in the Simulator.
Does Echo work offline?+
For pairs supported by Apple’s on-device translation and speech models, yes. Otherwise Echo uses secure cloud translation and needs a connection.
Can I caption calls, YouTube, or podcasts?+
Audio mode uses iOS Screen Broadcast to capture the app audio you choose. Some apps or protected media may block or restrict capture.
Where does my data go?+
On-device audio and screen text stays on your phone. When cloud translation is needed, transcripts are sent to Microsoft Azure AI Speech & Translator only to return the translation — nothing is used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
How do subscriptions work?+
Echo Unlimited is billed through your Apple ID and auto-renews. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
